The organic and solid geometric forms alternate in the set-up to compose totemic elements achieving impressive symbolic value where the heaviness of natural stone is not denied: on the contrary, weight and gravity create balances between the various solid parts and the different stone materials.
There is a fountain at the heart of the installation as a symbolic representation of the indissoluble bond between man and nature. The fountain is surrounded by a row of totems positioned in a semicircle to perform various alternating functions: seats, tables, vases and sculptures – all designed for outdoor applications.
LIBRA INSTALLATION DEPICTS THE TWO FACES OF THE ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH WE LIVE, BASED ON AN OFTEN PRECARIOUS BALANCE BETWEEN NATURAL ACTION AND HUMAN INTERVENTION
The designer decided to work with both the traditional materials processed by Bianco Cave: Lecce Stone and Ostuni Stone. They are joined by Carparo Stone and Poggiadro Stone which, with their more evident nuances, help emphasise certain aspects of the installation.

The rich and varied panorama of products populating our homes or social venues involves the use of many different materials: artificial, natural or mixed. The growing variety of materials, combined with the expanding skills of companies in imitating the finest natural materials with chromatic and tactile effects, makes recognising natural authenticity increasingly difficult. Against this confused background, stone – the natural material par excellence – can become an element of genuine and physical connection between man and nature.
The exhibition aims to rediscover this atavistic relationship through new design projects developed by renowned designers boasting experience with natural stone materials and produced by Italian companies of excellence in the sector.
