Giuseppe Fallacara - ONCE UPON A TIME THE “SKY” OF ARCHITECTURE Marmomac Meets Academies 2026

The Marmomac Meets Academies 2026 exhibition, entitled Once upon a time, the “sky” of architecture. New research on vaulted lithic space, offers an opportunity to reflect on the role of stone in contemporary architecture and on the new possibilities emerging from the intersection of vaulted structures, computational design, digital fabrication, and technological innovation.

The exhibition explores the possibility of rethinking stone not as a material exclusively associated with the past, but as a resource for the future of architectural design and construction. Vaults, arches, membranes, modular systems, and hybrid structures thus become a field of experimentation for new relationships between form, material, structural behaviour, and production processes.

The conference will be introduced by Giuseppe Fallacara, curator of the exhibition, who will present its themes, objectives, and scientific framework. This will be followed by a presentation by Wendel Sebastian, focusing on the architectural and structural potential of the latest experiments in stone construction. The second part of the event will give the floor directly to the designers: through a series of short presentations, each designer will introduce their prototype, explaining its concept, construction logic, and main innovative features.
