Curated by Raffaello Galiotto: designer
The continuous interpretative journey of lithic material in construction today stands at a critical juncture between the loss of ancient knowledge and the intense drive for innovation brought about by technical progress.
Computer-aided design and the rapid advancement of digital manufacturing technologies, also within the stone industry, are opening up unexpected horizons, enabling highly complex, extremely precise and reliably repeatable processes. Stone, increasingly shaped by these new modes of production, can revitalise its traditional role as a building material, while at the same time requiring a reconsideration of its material charisma, aimed at enhancing its expressive qualities and reducing its environmental impact.
The exhibition CARISMA MATERICO, through the creation of four architectural stone installations, explores the possible return of stone culture in architecture via open experimental approaches and contrasting tendencies: structural / ornamental, heavy / light, minimalist / purist / tactile / rough.
