Strata

Curated by Gumdesign

Designer: Laura Fiaschi e Gabriele Pardi
Company: Silvestri Marmi

A single block transformed through controlled subtraction, generating a family of tables as “derivations” of the same original material: 100 × 50 centimetres of marble, 40 centimetres deep. Then comes the cut.

A repeated gesture, almost ritualistic. Every 5 centimetres, the material is crossed, opened. There is no subtraction, but a process of unveiling.

The individual elements emerge as variations of the same original body. The surface extends, multiplies and unfolds into space, taking on an architectural and relational dimension. Each element remains inscribed in the memory of the initial block, which persists as the invisible matrix of the entire system.

Strata thus explores a condition in which form is not an outcome, but an ongoing derivation. A single material body that, through the repetition of the cut, opens up into an extended spatial configuration, while preserving its geological and conceptual origin.
