Marmomac Academy in Poznań: the talks at Budma 2026

Technical talks by Gianni Simonelli and Paolo Marone on the culture and innovation of natural stone

Marmomac Academy continues its international journey of education and knowledge sharing. This format, dedicated to professional development, arrived in Poznań for BUDMA 2026, confirming its role as a reference point for architects, designers and companies in the sector.

On 5 February, at the Archi-Strada Stage, we explored topics related to architecture and sustainable technologies through two specialist talks led by our experts.

From Quarry to Craft: Gianni Simonelli’s Talk

The first talk, "From Quarry to Craft: How Stone Becomes Architecture & Design," examined the transformation process of raw material. Gianni Simonelli illustrated the journey that takes stone from extraction in the quarry to its final application in contemporary design and architectural projects.

Key points:

  • Technical transformation: the processing stages that turn the block into a semi-finished product and finally into the finished piece.
  • Project culture: how material knowledge influences designers’ aesthetic and functional choices.
  • Integration of craftsmanship and industry: the role of technical expertise in enhancing the value of natural stone.
