Gumdesign was chosen for the new creative direction of Savema Spa; the experiences and skills acquired with the cultural and entrepreneurial project of La Casa di Pietra are declined on functional and poetic coverings. The first 6 new collections dedicated to the materials take shape: Arabescato Corchia marble meets vegetable tanned leather, inlaid wood, natural and toasted cork, etched brass, woven willow and veneered wood to tell new stories dedicated to architecture. An important beginning to discover new, innovative and experimental features dedicated to living, accommodation and hospitality; places and paths that intertwine and suggest new ways of interpreting the inhabited space.
The first 6 collections involve the use of just as many natural materials combined with Arabescato Corchia marble (raw material from the quarries owned by Savema) worked with numerous techniques and technologies resident in the company; the present – and future – collections are born with the use of Arabescato Corchia marble but the stone support can change at the request of the end customer, as well as the numerous material variations of the complementary materials; the standard size of the slabs is 75×100 cm and allows for easy application on vertical surfaces with minimal installation waste.

The new collections are part of the Integram corporate container. Integration is one of the values on which the company is based, it is the beacon that guides the approach to the market. A think tank in which natural stone can coexist with other materials that become an additional tool, guided by integration: a complement to the use of natural stone perfectly “matched” to our marbles with the aim of giving designers the opportunity to generate different variables that make a building a unique and successful story.
The new entrepreneurial trajectory of Savema – which coincides with the definition of a company catalogue aimed at Architectural Surfaces (parallel channel to the company’s “ordinary” work and production) – required a design trajectory, production and product communication that supports the innovation and research of marble surfaces contaminated by complementary materials. The exhibition space thus becomes a narration, a three-dimensional account of the methodological process. An open container that accommodates six portals in natural metal and generated by simple folds becomes “book” and “pages” to read; they are “doors through which to pass, to travel” to the rediscovery of tradition and contemporaneity, research and innovation, recovery and sustainability, language and two-dimensional and three-dimensional graphic design.
Inside the portals (the pages) the “writing” (the collections) carved in marble thanks to advanced technologies and stages of realization often interrupted, unfinished but left natural, material; pentagram solids in which to insert “notes” composed of other natural materials (wood inlaid according to ancient artisanal techniques, vegetable tanned leather, metal etched by skilled hands, willow interwoven in Tuscany, the cork recovered from a consolidated structure based on the circular economy and the simple veneered wood that captures the thrift in the use of the raw material).
A journey between technique and poetry, concreteness and dream to return to the visitor the awareness of a methodological path attentive and sensitive to the material, its use and its “permanence” and durability in the inhabited space.
