LESS CARPET MORE TREES
Every year at the end of the event Marmomac removes about 20 tons of worn carpet inevitably destined for disposal. Since this edition, Marmomac has decided to eliminate over 95% of the carpet in the halls and to “mitigate” its impact on the environment with an operation aimed at limiting air pollution and climate change. The way chosen is the planting of trees, as each plant has the ability to absorb carbon dioxide (CO2) and to capture the dust in the oil (PM10, PM2.5) as well as to make the landscape more pleasant.
In collaboration with the Municipality of Verona and through the Beleafing company, Marmomac will plant 200 trees and shrubs in the Santa Teresa park in front of the fair and in the area of the Zai Consortium in Verona. It is estimated that thanks to this project, approximately 6 tons of CO2 will be absorbed each year for the next 10 years and between 20 and 30 kg of PM10 will be captured per mature plant.
